Healthy Economy & Environment

I am inspired after attending the Healthy Economy & Environment conference that concluded today. First, thanks to all those who put this together. Second, how about this for a tax solution:
Eliminate Corporate Income Tax, and replace it with increased tax on corporate dividends, and money retained by corporations. Corporations are not people, despite what the Supreme Court ruled. Let's take away the taxes they pay so they can not claim "Taxation with out representation".
What rights should a Corporation have? The right to make money, and the right to shield the owners from liability are currently the only ones. Check out bcoporations.net for a new kind of corporation that respects the triple bottom line.

  1. I am of the opinion that corporate personhood is an important 'right' that needs repeal. Corporate overlord is a huge part of the problem we are facing right now, in terms of healthy economic recovery and the establishment of smaller, more localized businesses that even stand a chance. As a small business owner, I am sensitive to the challenges that face independents. I think the independent business community serves the needs of their immediate communities more affectively than large corporations and as such, can undergird local economic forces. That is threatened by certain privileges held by large corporations. Big established companies can also create jobs and stability. I am not in favor of an 'us vs. them' sentiment. I just think the whole corporate personhood is backfiring on the vast majority of the population. The people most benefitting are the CEO's, NOT the employees.
